Every Fall, we celebrate culinary traditions from a few of our favorite counties. This week, we’re admiring Scotland - a country known for its amazing landscape but often forgotten about when it comes to its delicious food. From tasty cheddar cheeses like Orkney Smokey Red Cheddar to delectable chutneys like MacKays caramelized red onion chutney to savory snacks like Mackie’s Potato crisps, we have a diverse selection of Scotland’s best… We also have the famed and seafood lover praised Loch Etive Steelhead Trout imported directly from Scotland. You’ve never enjoyed trout quite like this before. It will make for one memorable fish dinner, we assure you. Peach Contest Winner: Andrea Campbell’s Perfect Peach Panna Cotta

posted on August 13th, 2018 by Alyssa Malmquist

And the winner is....Perfect Peach Panna Cotta via Andrea Campbell Last month, we ran a peach dessert recipe to honor our favorite summer fruit! We had tons of amazingly delicious recipe submissions but when it came to the ultimate recipe and beautifully presented and photographed dessert, we unanimously voted this "perfect peach panna cotta." According to Andrea... "I created this recipe after going to an Italian restaurant with my dad and trying their Panna Cotta. I fell in love with the luscious texture of the dessert, but I wanted it to have more layers to it. I usually make this with either or guava or mango (because of my Jamaican roots), but after seeing this recipe contest, I knew peaches would make the perfect substitute and I was correct. I made a couple modifications (like using bourbon vanilla extract and lemon zest), and I just LOVE the way it turned out. My family loved it and I will definitely be making this dessert again in the near future." Panna Cotta is a… Read More

Peach Tarts Handcrafted for Summer

posted on July 11th, 2018 by Lauren Pepin

Feeling Peachy What’s your favorite summer memory? One of mine is sitting around munching on summer fruit at the beach or by the pool. I love cold fruit on a hot day. Summertime brings about some of the best fruit of the year; cherries, berries, mango, grapes, kiwi, and peaches. Of all the fruits available this season, peaches have to be one of the sweetest fruity treats. The range of flavor from tart to sweet with the varying colors never ceases to amaze me. Is there a more perfect fruit to represent summer? We have 4” and 8” seasonal fruit tarts available all year long, but this summer we are stoked to bring you our 8” Fresh Peach Tart that’s made with the sweetness of both yellow and white peaches layered in a beautiful design you will be proud to serve. [caption id="attachment_19469" align="aligncenter" width="824"] Peach Tart[/caption] We take a vanilla cream filled buttery tart shell and top it with alternating super sweet white and yellow peach slices. Meet Our Local Peach Growers: The Sawatzky Family

posted on June 27th, 2018 by Leslie Thomas

Keep it Local May we just declare, our local California farmers are the absolute best? We know this because we've maintained loyal relationships with them over many, many years and have learned an incredible wealth of knowledge from every single one of them when it comes to their produce we carry in our stores. Today's farmer spotlight goes to Richard and Lavone Sawatzky - the amazing folks behind our seriously sweet and juicy peaches. Coming from a family of farmed grapes and raised chicken, Richard Sawatzky had never grown nor picked a fruit tree until he met his future wife Lavone, whose family farm of table and raisin grapes would flourish into a tree fruit farm. Growing up, Lavone spent many days working on her family's farm and thus, had great experience and passion for the hard work. During the early years though, her family field packed all of the fruit and her father would drive to LA to sell it, just to make ends meet. It wasn't until later years that they… Read More
